Drs. Henry and Laura Tenckhoff were both born in Germany.  Henry remained there through his medical school training while Laura's family fled Germany to live in Australia in the late 1930s.  Laura and Henry later met in America as physicians in Boston, married in England, and then returned permanently to Seattle in the early 1960s.  Dr. Henry Tenckhoff, as a fellow with Dr. Scribner, studied uremic neuropathy and worked with Dr. Fred Boen to develop the chronic Peritoneal Dialysis program.  He discusses early chronic dialysis in Seattle, Peritoneal Dialysis and the Tenckhoff catheter in this interview.
